Named for the black tree-fern, Mamaku is a musical themed artwork, turned and carved from one piece of Pohutukawa. I added the top/bottom bridges and legs, also from Pohutukawa, and the “strings” are stainless steel wire.

Timber is Apricot, I saw a small seedling growing so I thought this would be cool to reproduce. very delicate to do. Black walnut base with half round Black walnut center. Size: H 170 mm x base 85 mm top 65 mm dia.

Inspired the New Zealand Koru and river stones that lay throughout our beautiful riverways.
Wood carving representation of "Gods hand" holding the very first egg between thumb, middle finger and forefinger. It was carved from a Pokutukawa tree branch in 2022. The overall height is 270mm. The carving has been finished with a sanding sealer, two coats of Danish oil and then rubbed with Beeswax.
A variety of timbers including oak, pohutukawa, pine, silky oak, rewa rewa, and rimu. Depicting an individual Fungi (mushroom) with its own identity embellished with pyrography and Milliput on a Macrocarpa platter. Together they form a playful "Funguy Family".
A small bowl of Maple and Quila that failed along a glue line very near the end of the turning process. Presented on a base of Quila with brass rods incorporated to frame the presentation of the ornament. 200mm tall.
