Plate turned from spalted maple (Acer sp.); Base made from Casuarina cunninghamiana. 230mm L x 214mm W x 26mm H.  Plate can be removed from base to sit flat or set on any side in the stand.

Floating Emerging Goblet (Gardenia sp.) The piece of bowl gouge tip is the result of contact with the dark spot at the center of the goblet stem which is a nail running through the wood. 158mm High.

Cone and base of Casuarina cunninghamiana. Base turned and carved. Crack on lip of cone stabilized and left for effect. 85mm H; Cone = 63mm H x 62mm Diam.

Calabash Mortar turned from New Zealand Macadamia Nut (Macadamia sp.); Pestle turned from Hawaiian Ohi’a heartwood (Metrosideros polymorpha). Calabash Mortar = 76mm H x 122mm Diam.; Pestle = 124mm L x 32mm at widest Diam.

Kauri Cremation Urn (Agathis australis). 267mm H x 128mm widest Diam. to 90mm smallest Diam.

The hollow form / natural edge was turned from Kowhai (Sophora sp.), the base is from Casuarina cunninghamiana, and finial from Gardenia sp. The entire piece = 308mm H; Hollow form = 133mm H x 154mm Dia.

She-oak Cremation Urn (She-oak, Casuarina cunninghamiana). Dimensions = 265mm H x 122mm Diam.

Stylized Rice Bowl turned from Kowhai, Sophora sp. Dimensions = 65mm H x 132mm Diam.

Vase turned from Chinese (Persian) Silk Tree / Mimosa (Albizia julibrissin). Dimensions = 161mm H x 158mm Diam.

Turned from East African Yellow Wood, Afrocarpus gracilior. Dimensions 124mm H x 180mm L x 165mm W. The prototype for a series of turnings using the “directional wedges” cut when felling a tree and left on the ground.
